Buy-Bust Operation Leads to Arrest

The operation was led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency  through its National Capital Region Southern District Office. They worked closely with the Laguna Provincial Office, the Regional Special Enforcement Team, and the Calamba City Police.

According to authorities, two Indian nationals were arrested during the operation. The suspects were identified as businessmen who were allegedly involved in the sale of illegal drugs. They were caught during the actual exchange of the suspected cocaine, which resulted in their immediate arrest.

Law enforcement officials said the operation was carefully planned and coordinated to ensure a safe and successful arrest without harm to civilians in the area.

Large Quantity of Suspected Cocaine Recovered

During the operation, authorities recovered a significant amount of suspected cocaine packed in multiple containers. The P233-M cocaine haul showed the scale of the illegal activity and raised concerns about international drug trafficking operations.

The seized drug evidence included:

  • Two rectangular improvised packs containing about one kilogram each of suspected cocaine, which were part of the actual sale
  • One open carton box containing 42 additional one-kilogram packs believed to be cocaine

In total, about 44 kilograms of suspected cocaine were confiscated by authorities.

Other Evidence Confiscated

Aside from the illegal drugs, several other items were recovered during the buy-bust operation. These pieces of evidence are expected to support the case against the suspects.

Other items seized include:

  • One ₱500 bill used as marked money
  • 16 bundles of boodle money
  • A brown paper bag used to contain the buy-bust money
  • A smartphone believed to be used for communication
  • Passports belonging to the suspects

Authorities said these items will help establish the identities of the suspects and their possible involvement in illegal drug activities.

Charges Filed Against the Suspects

The two Indian nationals are facing serious criminal charges under Philippine law. Authorities confirmed that cases have been filed for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Specifically, the suspects are charged under:

  • Section 5, Article II – Illegal sale of dangerous drugs
  • Section 11, Article II – Illegal possession of dangerous drugs

If proven guilty, the suspects could face long prison sentences and heavy penalties under Republic Act 9165.

Laboratory Examination of Seized Drugs

Authorities also confirmed that the confiscated substances will be submitted to the PDEA Laboratory Service for laboratory examination. The test results will confirm whether the seized items are indeed cocaine and will be used as official evidence in court.

Law enforcement officials stressed that proper handling and testing of the drugs are critical to ensure the strength of the case against the suspects.

Authorities Reaffirm Commitment Against Illegal Drugs

Officials said the successful seizure of P233-M cocaine shows the strong coordination between national and local law enforcement agencies. They emphasized that operations like this are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle large-scale drug networks and prevent illegal substances from reaching communities.

Authorities also reminded the public to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activities to help stop the spread of illegal drugs.

The arrest of two Indian nationals and the seizure of illegal drugs worth more than ₱233 million mark a major victory in the fight against drug trafficking in Laguna. The large quantity of cocaine recovered highlights the serious threat posed by organized drug groups and the importance of continued law enforcement action.

As the case moves forward and laboratory results are finalized, authorities remain firm in their commitment to protect communities and enforce the law. Updates on this developing story will continue to be monitored and reported by Metro Balita Ph.
